Abstract: The collapse of the World Trade Center Twin Towers and World Trade Center Building 7 resulted in a cataclysmic release of dust, now called World Trade Center (WTC) dust, in Lower Manhattan and the surrounding communities. Approximated one million tons of dust and smoke were released. A number of toxicants with known adverse health outcomes were found in the dust. These chemicals include polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), pesticides, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), many of which are known carcinogens. Other organic compounds detected included phthalate esters and polychlorinated dibenzo-pdiozins (PCDDs) and dibenzfuroans (PCDFs). Asbestos was also identified in the dust. In recent years, a number of adverse health outcomes have been associated with exposure to the WTC dust. These adverse health outcomes include respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and autoimmune disorders. This paper offers a short review of the toxicants found in the WTC dust.

Introduction: The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 resulted in significant adverse outcomes includin  cardiovascular disease. The increase in cardiovascular outcomes was both short-term and long-term. A review was conducted on the short-term increase in cardiovascular disease following the attacks.

Setting: Nepal is a country with high prevalence of Leprosy and Lymphatic Filariasis(LF) mostly at Terai (plain) districts. The coverage of annual campaign of mass drug administration (MDA) for the prevention of Lymphatic Filariasis is low. Nepal is committed to achieve the goal set by WHO achieving elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis is low. Nepal is committed to achieve the goal set by WHO achieving elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis by year 2020 and the country applies MDA strategy and conducts yearly campaign of Mass Drug Administration.

Background: Inadequate water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) can lead to a number of health problems, including stunted growth, diarrheal and tungiasis illness and even death. Most of the burden of diarrheal diseases and tungiasis infestation can be preventable with improvements in Household sanitation and water quality such as point of use disinfection. The Main objective of the study was to determine the household level factors associated with practices towards WASH on tungiasis and diarrhea occurrence among parents/ guardians of pupils in schools implementing Home Grown School Meals Programme (HGSMP).
